Omnitron in the News

Irvine, CA – March 9, 2009 Omnitron Systems Technology, a provider of fiber optic access systems for enterprise and telecom networks, today announced the availability of the iConverter® 4xT1/E1 MUX. The 4xT1/E1 MUX is a 4-port multiplexer that aggregates up to four independent T1/E1 channels from copper links onto a fiber optic link, and is the newest member of the popular iConverter fiber access platform. The iConverter 4xT1/E1 MUX extends T1/E1 loops over fiber, reducing the number of costly loop repeaters. Unlike T1/E1 fiber extenders, the 4xT1/E1 MUX eliminates the requirement that each channel have its own fiber link.

The iConverter 4xT1/E1 MUX operates in pairs, and is designed for FTTx, mobile backhaul and building-to-building PBX connectivity applications where services from legacy TDM equipment requires transport across long distances of up to 150 km. The 4xT1/E1 MUX supports fixed-fiber and Small Form Pluggable (SFP) transceivers, enabling adaptability to different fiber types, distances and wavelengths – providing cost effective TDM fiber connectivity for Enterprise, Telecom and Utility industries.

“Omnitron’s iConverter 4xT1/E1 MUX combines T1 or E1 connections and extends them over fiber for telecom applications such as business services access and mobile backhaul,” said Doug Baar, Vice President of Engineering. “The 4xT1/E1 MUX can also be used in Enterprise networks to extend multiple T1 connections over fiber to remote LAN equipment. The 4xT1/E1 MUX provides integrated, easy-to-use features for rapid deployment and troubleshooting that reduce operating costs, as well as the flexibility to support a variety of network requirements.”

Key features include local configuration via DIP-switches for easy installation, and support for an optional 10/100 copper Ethernet port multiplexed with the T1/E1 circuits. Fault detection tools include local and remote fiber and copper loop-back modes, and configurable alarm relay contacts for audio/visual fault notification. Built-in circuit test mode eliminates the need for external test equipment by providing integrated diagnostics.

The iConverter 4xT1/E1 MUX is backed by a lifetime warranty and free 24/7 technical support. For more information about iConverter products, visit www.omnitron-systems.com.
