Omnitron in the News

Warsaw, Poland – September 20, 2010 – Omnitron Systems and Calnex Solutions announced a successful interoperability test of the Y.1731 Ethernet OAM with multiple Ethernet platforms at the EANTC Interoperability Test, which was showcased at the Carrier Ethernet World Congress here today.

The ITU-T Y.1731 protocol is an important requirement for service providers to deliver carrier-grade services over Ethernet networks by providing advanced Fault Management and Performance Monitoring capabilities. The Calnex Paragon allows equipment manufacturers and service providers to rapidly prove technologies like ITU-T Y.1731 by providing specific test features for those technologies.

Omnitron tested the iConverter® GM3 Network Interface Device that enables the delivery of MEF-certified Ethernet services. The iConverter GM3 implements Service OAM according to the ITU-T Y.1731 standard, and provides intelligent demarcation at the customer premises enabling end-to-end service reliability and SLA assurance across multiple carrier networks.

Carsten Rossenhoevel, Managing Director at EANTC, the lab that conducted the Multi-Vendor interoperability test, said “We ran a number of tests to validate Y.1731 interoperability between multiple vendors. The Calnex Paragon enabled us to run tests comprehensively and quickly. The extensive and clear management reporting from the Omnitron Systems equipment also allowed us to verify correct operation rapidly.”

Details of the tests and the platforms are in the Multi-Vendor Interoperability Test White Paper, which can be downloaded at www.eantc.com/cewc2010.
