Single Pair Ethernet (SPE) and Single Pair Power over Ethernet (SPoE)
Single Pair Ethernet (SPE) is a game-changer for delivering data and power over just one twisted pair of wires, enabling Ethernet connectivity in places where it wasn’t previously feasible.
SPE allows for cost-effective, lightweight, and space-saving cabling while supporting communication over distances up to 1000 meters—far beyond the reach of standard Ethernet. It's ideal for building and industrial automation, where long cable runs and tight spaces are the norm.
Omnitron’s SPE and Single Pair Power over Ethernet (SPoE) switches and media converters are designed to bridge the gap between legacy systems and modern Ethernet-based networks, ensuring seamless integration, power delivery, and reliable data transmission—all over a single pair.
Omnitron’s Ethernet-APL interoperableswitches and media converters connect for digital instrumentation devices in Industrial process automation applications. The SPE switches and converters can be deployed in a spur or trunk topologies.
They support 1.0V or 2.4V peak-to-peak signal amplitude voltage when connecting to Class A and C edge/field devices or Class 3 and 4 Trunk devices, respectively.

How Can We Help?
Extend Data and Power up to 1 kilometer over Single Pair Cabling
In this application, the OmniConverter SPoE switch connects to remote PoE-powered Single Pair Ethernet (SPE) converters deployed throughout a facility or outdoor environment. These converters receive both power and 10 Mbps data over the long-reach single-pair line and then convert the connection to standard Ethernet (Cat 5/Cat 6) at the edge. From there, they provide PoE output to power IP cameras, Wi-Fi access points, or other IoT devices. This solution is perfect for upgrading legacy infrastructure, enabling cost-effective, long-distance deployments without the need for local power at the device end.

Connect Ethernet-APL Industrial Process Automation Devices
For applications where the industrial processing sensors exceed the copper Ethernet distance from the Environmental Control Room, an RuggedNet GLAPS/Si Single Pair Ethernet switch can be used to extend a fiber connection to within the copper distance of the sensors. The RuggedNet GLAPS/Si extends a 10Mbps Ethernet copper connection to the industrial processing sensors using SPE cabling. Three Ethernet-APL Field Devices are connected up to 200 meters across a spur connection in a non-hazardous area. A fourth is extended across a trunk connection up to 1000 meters to an Ethernet-APL Field Switch in a hazardous area.
