iConverter carrier-class media converters and Network Interface Devices (NIDs) provide Ethernet in the First Mile fiber access in Metropolitan and Enterprise LAN networks. iConverters are used to distribute high-density managed fiber links from the Central Office/Network Core to intelligent NIDs that provide secure service demarcation with copper and fiber ports at the Customer Premises/Network Edge.

iConverter media converters can be managed or unmanaged. When managed, the iConverter management system provides the ability to remotely monitor network status, configure hardware parameters, generate statistic reports and receive a variety of user-specified traps. Management features for iConverter NIDs include support for 802.3ah Operation, Administration, and Maintenance (OAM) and Secure IP-Less management.
iConverters provide fiber connectivity that supports advanced services at a fraction of the cost of conventional switches. Ultimately, it’s not just the initial cost of a system that provides value, but the sustained cost of operating and maintaining the equipment month after month and year after year that counts. The iConverter management system reduces expenditures by keeping truck rolls to a minimum through extensive remote provisioning and instant trap notification capability.
