iConverter Compact Chassis

iConverter compact chassis and plug-in modules combine to create configurations that provide multi-port Ethernet connectivity to end users and subscribers.

By installing intelligent media converters with integrated management, these devices function as managed switches and support advanced features such as VLAN, Quality of Service prioritization (QoS), bandwidth control and port access control.

iConverter compact chassis feature a variety of AC, DC, PoE and redundant power options. They are available in standard (0 to 50ºC) and wide (-40 to 60ºC) temperature ranges. Extended (-40 to 75ºC) operating temperature ranges are also available.

iConverter compact chassis support Ethernet backplane connectivity between modules. The example below illustrates a 2-Module chassis backplane that enables sharing of Ethernet data between two installed iConverter modules. Installed modules that are equipped with Ethernet backplane ports have the ability to connect to each other via the chassis’ Ethernet Backplane and facilitate a variety of flexible network configurations.

1+5: One Fiber port and Five RJ-45 ports

iConverter 10/100M2 and a 4TxVT modules are installed in a 2-Module Chassis. This configuration provides a 100Mbps fiber uplink port and five 10/100Mbps RJ-45 ports.


2+4: Two Fiber ports and Four RJ-45 ports

iConverter 2FXM2 and a 4TxVT modules are installed in a 2-Module Chassis. This configuration provides two 100Mbps fiber ports and four 10/100Mbps RJ-45 ports. This configuration can also function as a node in a fiber daisy chain with a fiber uplink port, a fiber downlink port and four RJ-45 ports.

 

1+3: One Fiber port and Three RJ-45 ports

Multi-port Network Interface Device

An iConverter 10/100M2 is installed in a 1-Module Redundant Power Chassis with two built-in RJ-45 ports. This configuration provides a 100Mbps fiber uplink port and three 10/100Mbps RJ-45 ports. The chassis can also be powered with Power over Ethernet over the RJ-45 port.

 

2+2: Two Fiber ports and Two RJ-45 ports

Multi-port Network Interface Device

An iConverter 2FXM2 is installed in a 1-Module Redundant Power Chassis with two built-in RJ-45 ports. This configuration provides a 100Mbps fiber uplink port, two 10/100Mbps RJ-45 ports, plus an additions 100Mbps fiber port. This configuration can also function as a node in a fiber daisy chain with a fiber uplink port, a fiber downlink port and two RJ-45 ports. The chassis can also be powered with Power over Ethernet via the RJ-45 port.
