X.21 Military Application

This application demonstrates how to use X.21 serial copper-to-fiber media converters to extend the distance between a radar installation and a mobile command post at a safe location.

The radar installation is connected to an iConverter X21 serial-to-fiber converter. The fiber link from the converter can be dual or single-fiber, single-mode or multimode. iConverter X21 serial-to-fiber media converters support distances up to 120km over single mode fiber.

The fiber link runs to the command post, where the fiber is converted back to serial. The serial interface is connected control equipment located in the command post allowing secure encrypted X.21 data to be transmitted to and received from the radar installation.
