The iConverter Multi-Service Platform consists of carrier-grade media converters, transponders, transceivers and multiplexers. These carrier-grade fiber connectivity products are deployed in fiber networks worldwide by Service Providers, Cable MSOs and ISPs to reach more customers, add more services and increase the profitability of fiber networks.
Expand the Capacity of Metropolitan, Access and Backhaul Fiber Networks
Increase the Distance of Fiber Access and SONET networks
Extend Demarcation for Business Complexes and Riser Management
Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing (CWDM) increases the capacity of SONET/SDH, metropolitan, first-mile access, mobile backhaul and hybrid coax/fiber networks to enable new services and revenues. Each CWDM wavelength is an independent data channel that can transport a different protocol (Ethernet, TDM, etc.) and data rate (up to 10 gigabits each).

iConverter CWDM/X and CWDM/AD Add+Drop MUX products multiplex up to sixteen independent wavelengths over single mode fiber.

iConverter CWDM modules utilize a small and scalable plug-in form factor, and can be installed in any powered or unpowered iConverter chassis achieving some of the highest port densities in the industry. iConverter CWDM modules are available in expandable four-channel and eight-channel configurations.
The modules are designed to be integrated with other iConverter media converters and transponders to provide a true multi-service platform capable of delivering Ethernet, TDM, SONET and other services across a CWDM common link.

iConverter protocol transparent media converters/transponders provide conversion between different wavelengths, multimode and single-mode, and dual and single-fiber. They function as repeaters that amplify optical signals and support the three Rs (regeneration, retiming and reshaping). iConverter media converters/transponders support Omnitron and third-party pluggable transceivers.
The iConverter xFF Transponder is an SFP to SFP protocol-transparent fiber converter that supports data rates from 1Mbps to 4.25Gbp. The xFF provides distance extension and CWDM wavelength conversion for Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, SONET (OC-3/12/48), SDH (STM-1/4/16) and 1x/2x/4x Fibre Channel applications.
The iConverter XG and XG+ are 10G transponders that support any combination SFP+ and XFP (fiber and CX4 copper) transceivers, and data rates of 9.95Gbps to 11.32Gbps. The XG and XG+ transponders provide distance extension and wavelength conversion for 10G Ethernet, 10G SONET/SDH, 10G Fibre Channel and 10G OTN (G.709).

This application shows three 10G OTN connections across a DWDM network. Three iConverter XG+ modules with high-power XFPs are installed in a 5-Module Chassis and connected with fiber patch cables to a DWDM Multiplexer. The iConverter XG+ modules function as fiber repeaters and wavelength transponders. The high-power XFPs installed in the XG+ perform Forward Error Correction on the incoming signal, then amplify and re-encapsulate the outbound OTN signal.
iConverter fiber-to-fiber media converter modules provide distance extension with single fiber to dual fiber and single-mode to multimode fiber conversion. Select iConverter modules support VLAN switching capabilities and iConverter fiber-to-fiber Network Interface Devices (NIDs) feature integrated management and carrier-grade fault detection capabilities.

OC-3/STM-1 and OC-12/STM-4 fiber-to-fiber media converters extend SONET fiber distances by amplifying the optical power, converting single mode to multi-mode, and dual fiber to single-fiber, and converting wavelengths.

The iConverter platform is available with high-density chassis for distributing multiple fiber runs from the demarcation point, and standalone modules to hand off services at the tenant offices.
Multiple services can be transported over an existing fiber link with iConverter CWDM multiplexers and T1/E1 multiplexers. Preserve investments and save the cost of installing new fiber links by expanding the capacity of existing fiber infrastructure.
