iConverter Network Interface Devices (NIDs) enable MEF-certified Ethernet service demarcation with carrier-grade Operations, Administration and Maintenance (OAM) and provisioning capabilities. A wide variety of copper-to-fiber and fiber-to-fiber models are available to support 100 and 1000Mbps fiber connectivity with fixed connectors and Small Form Pluggable transceivers.

The iConverter GM4 NID provides tools for optimizing service delivery and managing the customer experience throughout the lifecycle of an Ethernet service. Network management combined with Service OAM provides higher perceived service quality and workforce productivity, rapid outage restoration, fewer reported problems and greater customer satisfaction.

iConverter GM3 and GM4 NIDs

The iConverter GM3 and GM4 NIDs meet the demands for scalable Ethernet service delivery across one or more operator networks, and provide the fault detection and performance monitoring OAM capabilities expected for carrier-class services. Meeting MEF, IEEE, ITU and industry requirements for Ethernet User to Network Interface (UNI), the GM3 and GM4 terminate Carrier Ethernet services over Fast or Gigabit Ethernet access networks.

The GM3 and GM4 NIDs support advanced service provisioning features, which allow the Service Provider to offer tiered revenue generating services according to Service Level Agreements (SLA) based on data rate, Class of Service prioritization and service differentiation. Ethernet OAM provides the fault detection and performance monitoring necessary to ensure proper enforcement and compliance to the SLAs.

The GM4 features ITU-T Y.1564 Ethernet service testing and RFC 2544 throughput testing, which allow the Service Provider to verify all Ethernet service parameters for quick turn-up, troubleshooting and SLA verification. The GM4 also supports link protection with Rapid Spanning Tree and service protection with ITU-T G.8031 and G.8032 Ethernet Protection switching.

The iConverter HybridNID is a Network Interface Device that enables wholesale Ethernet Services across multiple operator networks with value-added revenue from independent Service Level Agreement (SLA) verification The HybridNID features dual management with secure access for the both the Service Provider and the Wholesale Operator. The HybridNID supports all of the carrier Ethernet features as the conventional GM3 NID.

The M2 NIDs provide MEF 9 and 14 certified Ethernet service demarcation in telecom networks, and mission-critical managed fiber links in enterprise and utility networks. The carrier-grade M2 NIDs support 802.3ah Link OAM performance monitoring and fault detection.

iConverter M2 Class NIDs are intelligent media converters with integrated IP-based and IP-less (Secure OAM or 802.3ah) management that support advanced networking capabilities.

The M2 NIDs are available as chassis plug-in modules, or as compact standalone units. The standalone NID provides a managed demarcation point, and the plug-in module can manage a chassis of modules or be managed as a regular media converter by another management module.
