Surveillance Cameras

OmniConverter PoE injector media converters can be deployed in network star configurations with one or more point-to-point fiber links extending connectivity to PoE and PoE+ cameras used for security surveillance, manufacturing process control, or traffic monitoring and enforcement. OmniConverter PoE injector media converters are used in a variety of large facilities to overcome the distance limitations of UTP copper cabling.

  • Cities and Municipalities
  • Military Bases
  • Airports and Transportation Hubs
  • Power Plants
  • Malls and Shopping Centers
  • Manufacturing Plants

In this point-to-point application example, PoE and PoE+ IP surveillance cameras are installed throughout a large facility. Network switches with fiber ports can be used to distribute fiber links from a control room, or a switch with RJ-45 ports can be used with media converters. iConverter, miConverter or FlexPoint media converters can be installed in high-density rack-mount chassis to provide reliable and cost-effective fiber distribution from existing copper network equipment.

Extend PoE with fiber - fiber ring

Fiber optic cables run to OmniConverter media converters, which are located near convenient AC or DC power sources. The OmniConverter media converters provides Power over Ethernet (PoE) over UTP cables to one or two IP cameras, each of which can be located up to 100m from the media converter.

Daisy Chain Fiber and Redundant Fiber

At the control room, media converters are be installed in high-density rack-mount chassis to provide reliable and cost-effective fiber distribution from existing copper network equipment.

OmniConverter PoE injector media converters with dual fiber ports can be deployed in daisy-chain configurations with fiber links running hop-to-hop along border fences, pipelines, highways or rail lines.

Extend PoE with fiber - fiber ring

OmniConverter media converters with dual fiber ports can also be deployed with redundant fiber links for mission-critical applications that require failover protection. The OmniConverter media converter is powered by a UPS for battery back-up power. Even if a fiber link is cut and power is shut off, the camera will continue to send image data over the failover fiber link.
