Targeting the needs of ISP’s and enterprise network users, the iConverter SF allows users to double the fiber capacity of single-mode fiber optic cable and extend trunk distances over fiber to 40 km. Live demonstrations of the new SF models can be seen at the Networld+Interop show May 7-9, 2002, in booth #1956 and the Spring BICSI event May 6-9, 2002, in booth #74. Both events are held in Las Vegas for telecommunications and network professionals.
The SF technology permits two individual channels to utilize a single fiber, which doubles the capacity of the installed fiber.
Release V1.2 of Management Agent Supports SNMP and Telnet Protocols.
Irvine, CA, January 29, 2002 -- Omnitron Systems Technology, Inc., a manufacturer of fiber media converters for Enterprise Local Area Networks (LAN) and Metropolitan Area network (MAN) applications, today released version 1.2 of its management agent software for the iConverter line of media converters. With the release of version 1.2, the iConverter management agent supports Telnet in addition to the previously supported SNMP protocol. Omnitron Systems is exhibiting the managed iConverter product family January 29-31, 2002 at the COMNET Expo, Washington DC, booth #2205. The Telnet services, which enhance the iConverter's management capabilities, are password protected and can be enabled or disabled by the user. Network engineers get greater functionality through Telnet, which enables monitoring status and allows engineers to configure any managed iConverter module from anywhere on the network. Telnet is a standard, text-based protocol supported by most platforms and operating systems, including Windows™ and Unix™ .
The iConverter modules can also be monitored and configured by SNMP based management software, such as Omnitron's NetOutlook™ which operates stand-alone under Windows 9X/ME/XP/NT/2K or under network management systems such as HP OpenView™.

The iConverter® Targets Enterprise LAN and Metro Applications.
Atlanta, GA, June 5, 2001 –– Omnitron Systems Technology, Inc., a manufacturer of fiber media converters, released the iConverter™ managed media converter family at the Supercomm Expo today. With its SNMP based NetOutlook™ network management software, its fault-tolerance and its physical layer remote fault detection and monitoring features, the iConverter product family provides a robust fiber transport tool for enterprise LAN and (MAN) Metropolitan Area Network applications. In its first release, the iConverter line includes a 19-unit, 2-unit and a 1-unit chassis, fiber to copper and multi-mode to single-mode fiber converters for Gigabit Ethernet, Fast (100 Mbps) Ethernet, 10/100 Ethernet, Standard Ethernet (10 Mbps), and ATM OC-3 and OC-12.
Utilizing the iConverter configuration options, an enterprise LAN manager, Telecommunication carrier, ISP, CLEC, ILEC, or IXC can use the different chassis types to optimize their network design. The 19-unit 2-U (3.5 inch) high, triple-power-redundant managed chassis provides the most density in the smallest form factor for the data center or central office (CO) where rack space is a premium . The 2-unit managed chassis provides the network’s edge or customer premises (CP) with a cost effective managed connectivity solution. The 1-unit unmanaged converter chassis provides connectivity where management is not required or when cost is critical.
Enabling cost efficient LAN/MAN Gigabit deployment.
Irvine, CA, January 23, 2001 –– Omnitron Systems Technology, Inc, a manufacturer of fiber media converter released today the FlexPoint™ Gx, a Gigabit fiber to copper converter for LAN and MAN applications. Compliant with the IEEE 802.3ab standard, the FlexPoint Gx supports distances of 100 meters of Gigabit over standard Category 5 wiring and up to 65 km over fiber.
Discussing Local Area Networks (LAN), Carrie McCune, Manager of Marketing Communications at Omnitron said: "Today’s Gigabit networks are growing from fiber backbones to Gigabit powered server farms, Gigabit to the workgroup and Gigabit to the desk. In these networks, the ability to deploy copper-only gigabit core-switch ports coupled with the ability to use existing category 5 infrastructure provide a dramatic cost saving. The ability of the FlexPoint Gx to convert to fiber as needed provides cost efficiency and flexibility to deploy fiber only as needed."
